Lots of entrepreneurs have trouble getting started with writing the words for their websites. This holds them up and often delays their business launch. Once they have a content plan, however, they can confidently start composing each page: choosing images and writing the words.
Having a well thought-through content plan also ensures that you know how users will be able to navigate their way through your site to find precisely what they want. The content plan establishes what the main menu on the home page will be and how the hierarchy of pages and ‘subpages’ will work for maximum user-friendliness and minimum ‘bounce rate’.
Not having a content plan is like building a hotel, for example, without any sort of plan from an architect or surveyor: you might end up without something vital, like stairs between floors or visible access to some rooms. Customers might get lost in the maze… Or rather, you might lose your potential customers!
Your content plan can, if you wish, be extended to include a blog strategy. The blog strategy gives you a sequenced list of topics for blog posts so that you’re not left wondering what to write about each time you sit down to write a post. It also:
- helps to maintain your search engine ranking by ensuring that regular blog posts keep your web content fresh
- helps you attract new visitors to your website
- helps to boost your authority, as your posts give your customers (and potential customers) a regular supply of useful tips, advice and information
- ensures that your blog doesn’t run dry because nobody feels inspired to think of a topic for this week’s or this month’s post.
For £600, we devise a content plan for your website. This fee increases to £900 for e-commerce websites. In addition to the plan itself, we’ll give you brief guidelines on how to approach writing the copy for each main page of the plan.
The charge for adding a one-year blog strategy to your content plan is £250.

If you want potential customers to be able to find you via Google and the like, your web copy must do two things. It must:
- include the right ‘search terms’ – to influence your search engine visibility and thus attract visitors to your site, and
- be written in such a way that it speaks to those visitors, holds their attention and sets them on the path to becoming customers.
Because if it doesn’t speak to them, potential customers may come… and go. They’ll click away rather than sticking around to find what they’ve come looking for. This means that you need to:
- research the right ‘search terms’ (ie the terms that are actually being keyed into search engines by the people who are looking for what you offer), and
- incorporate enough of those terms into your copy, whilst saying the right things and maintaining the right tone of voice to engage with your target audience.
Researching search engine terms is something that so many people ask us for help with that we’re now in the process of compiling a detailed guide. If you’d like to be the first to know when it’s available, please email studio@pavonicreative.co.uk, with the words ‘Request for SEO guide’ in the subject line.
Meanwhile, if you would like us to research terms for your new website, the fee is £350.

How long is it taking you to write the copy for your website? Is deciding how to phrase things delaying you launching the site and the business? It happens. We provide some copywriting guidance when we work on your content plan. But ‘writer’s block’ can still hold things up for some people. Sometimes what you need is for a professional to write your home page to get you started. Sometimes you need a professional to take your content plan and write all the key pages, freeing you to focus on other aspects of creating the site and launching the business.
We charge £150 to write your home page. We need to see your content plan in order to give you a fixed fee for writing the rest of your pages.
